How To Snack Healthy

A good way to lose weight or even to manage it is to eat smaller and healthier meals. Many of us are under the impression that all we need to do is to eat less every day (1 or 2meals). This will actually cause us to gain weight and we will lose important nutrients that keep us healthy. Here’s how you can eat the smaller, healthier, - but more delicious portions.

- When you feel yourself getting hungry you usually try to grab the nearest ice cream, cookie, or bag of chips that you have lying around. Instead try eating a tomato or carrot sticks. Eating these healthy snacks throughout the day will make sure that you are getting all of the nutrients you want without all of the fat. Make sure your snacks are between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner.

- Sometime when we are hungry we are actually thirsty. Drink lots of water and you will notice how fast it will fill you up and tide you over till your next meal. Have a water bottle with you at all times and this will help you to remember what you need to do.

- I know that we all like to spoil ourselves and eat the foods we really love – but we know are not healthy for us. However, it ceases to be a luxury thing for us when we are eating out every day for lunch. Pack your own lunch and make sure that the portions are small and the food is healthy. What most of us don’t know is that the servings we get at a restaurant are usually equivalent to 2-3 servings.

- Snack on foods that are high in fiber. Popcorn (without all of the butter and salt) as well as oatmeal are a great source of fiber. Fiber can keep you feeling full longer because it expands while in your stomach.

- When in doubt put those small portions on a smaller plate. This is a bit of a trick on your mind. Put your salad on the big plate and your main course on the smaller one. Make sure you get more of those healthy foods.
