How To Get Your Resume To Pass Inspection
When you drop your resume off at a highly competitive job don’t you ever wonder how they narrow all of the hundreds of candidates down to just one or two people? There are some larger companies that use resume scanning software. Because of this there are many good applicants that can be lost in the shuffle. Don’t worry though because we have a way to make your format your resume so that it will have a chance against the filtering program.
- It is important that you only send original printed resumes. Any faxed or photocopied resumes can be lost or hard to read.
- Use 8 ½ by 11 plain white or off white paper.
- The font size and style should be the more commonly used and between 10 to 14 in size. Don’t be too fancy.
- Try to stay away from using any extra lines or graphics. This can make it hard to scan and can be misread very easily.
- Use parentheses around the area codes of telephone numbers and remember to separate the fax number, e-mail address, and phone numbers into different lines so as to avoid any confusion.
